Knowledge Node
Participate in storing AI data.
Knowledge Nodes, also known as mining nodes, are responsible for recording the global ledger of the EpiK Protocol network using expected consensus.
Knowledge Nodes can store more AI data, jointly curated by Domain Experts and Bounty Hunters, to increase their probability of being selected to mint new blocks by increasing their mining power.
Mining Power
The mining power of a knowledge node is equal to the sum of the files it is currently storing. When a knowledge node stores a file, that means the knowledge node has completed both the proof-of-replication (PoRep) of the file and completed its periodic proof-of-spacetime (PoSt) in time.
Each knowledge node needs to submit the PoSt of the file it stores to the network every seven days to prove to everyone that the file is being stored. If the knowledge node fails to submit the PoSt of the file in time, the mining power corresponding to the file will be deducted immediately. The deducted mining power will be recovered if the knowledge node completes the missing PoSt within 28 days. If the PoSt is not completed within 28 days, the knowledge node needs to complete the PoRep of the file again.
To incentivize knowledge nodes to store new files uploaded by domain experts, the first 100 nodes that store the new file will be given double mining power.
Zero Penalty
In the EpiK Protocol network, each file has many backups. A single offline node will not cause file loss. Therefore, machines that go offline unexpectedly will not be penalized.
Mining power can only be gained by storing data uploaded by domain experts to avoid an arms race. Furthermore, knowledge nodes do not gain additional mining power by storing multiple copies of a file.
Incentive
75% of each block reward will be allocated to the knowledge node that mints the block. Each reward will start unlocking after seven days and will be unlocked linearly over the next seven days.
To prevent Sybil attacks, each knowledge node must pledge 1000 $AIEPK as safety collateral to participate in minting new blocks. The safety collateral can be unlocked 60 days after submitting the withdrawal request.
Zero Storage Fee
You may have noticed that domain experts do not pay anything for storage resources provided by knowledge nodes. That's because EpiK Protocol believes that 1 GiB of high-quality AI data is more valuable than 1 GiB of storage. Providing more AI data for AI bots is our common goal.
